oh she may be weary -- young girls, they do get weary -- wearing that same old shaggy dress, yeah. and while she's weary, try a little tenderness. you know she's waiting, just anticipating things that she'll never, never, never possess. while she's there waiting and without them just try a little tenderness. it's not just sentimental, no, she has her grief and care. but the soft words spoke so easy, yeah, they make it easier to bear.( Read more... )

Thank you to everyone for your well wishes!!! We're absolutely THRILLED to be having a girl WHICH MEANS NO HAND-ME-DOWNS AND ALL THE SHOPPI and did you KNOW how many things one can buy in pink?? Of course, this means a new nursery -- a new pram, a new basinet, a new wardrobe, BUT I'm happy to stretch a few more pennies because -- we're having a bloody girl!
And though I've been run just about off my feet these past few weeks, I think Fred and George's birthday was a right success! There was, of course, the broomstick incident -- and the fireplace incident...then there was the staircase incident, but Percy's arm isn't broken. Just a wee sprain! To those who joined us, your company was better than the most expensive gift. Arthur and I are always saying that we really couldn't have better friends.
If anyone's hungry, we still have a few leftover cupcakes!

Today, a year ago, I was sat-up in St. Mungo's waiting for the arrival of our Ron, who's brought us nothing but absolute happiness in the twelve months of his perfectly sweet existance.
But saying "youngest" would now be somewhat misleading. Having considered how best to tell everyone, Arthur and I decided there was no use in trying to keep it quiet. In approximately five months, Ron will have a little brother or -- with any luck! -- sister.
WARDED TO CATHERINE FENWICKAnd we need a midwife! Arthur's eager to find out the baby's gender. I may have been around this block one too many times, but I'd still very much like a helping hand, dear. Do you think you might take me on again?

WARDED TO ARTHURHappy birthday, love. I meant for it to be bigger. I hope you understand why I got distracted. There's cake here, for tonight when you get home, and steak and Guinness pie. A few assorted red-heads, too, so don't work yourself too hard.
I think it might be a good time to tell everyone about the baby. I should think we all of us need some cheering up, hey? WARDED TO WEASLEYS, PREWETTS & SCRIMGEOURSVery short notice, my dears, but I hope you'll understand why. Yesterday was Arthur's birthday and so the boys and I have been busy working on a wee cake. We're staying with my Auntie Muriel since the vamp attack so there's more than enough room.
It would mean a lot and we have some news we'd like to share with everyone. Bring your appetites, hm?

WARDED TO SIRIUS BLACK AND ANDROMEDA TONKSI'm perhaps the last person in England to hear but -- you poor dears. It must have been very frightening for both of you. Are you alright, Sirius? I hope the DMLE wasn't too harsh and -- well, but pay no notice to what those awful, spiteful people are saying. As far as I'm concerned, we blood-traitors are in good company!
But if you need anything -- soup, perhaps. You know you're always welcome, dear.

As if battling serious nausea over the past few weeks wasn't difficult enough, it seems as if I've come down with a cold or a flu or a bit of both. To make matters worse, my entire brood hasn't caught it -- only Bill, Charlie, Percy and Ron.
I swear to Merlin, nothing will ever take the twins down. They're constantly getting into--

Quite the week. We've been terribly sad to hear about Mr. Finnigan's murder, which has put a real damper on an otherwise cosy, snowed-in sort of week. It all seems so senseless, so beyond ridiculous that I'm never sure what to say, what to do. And our Charlie's at that age, right behind his brother, where he wants to be independent but is still such a little thing who's anxious to be close to Arthur and I. It's been days of constant chatter, questions -- difficult questions, anxious looks, trying to understand. But how do you explain something so irrational to children? Needless to say, the boys have kept a bit closer to me this week -- my doing and theirs. No flying, though they did convince me to have a charmed snowball fight with them. I rather think they only wanted me for my magic, not my tactical abilities.
Well. Well, I suppose there's really not very much more I can say. My very sincere condolences. My genuine, heartful condolences to friends and family.
WARDED TO ARTHUR:There's lamb stew waiting for you when you manage to make it home this evening. I'm starting to forget what you look like, you know.

Quite the kick off to the New Year -- Fred and George somehow managed to get hold of an extra fire-cracker today and nearly blew the hair clean off poor Percy's head. You wouldn't know it to see their reactions, laughing and clapping while our Percy ran around the living room, chased by a blue dragon. It took me a full two hours to clean up the damage, which included (but was not limited to): a bookshelf, two pictures, half an arm-chair, three light fixtures and a window. Charlie and Bill would like to add "one invaluable pillow fort," which I've explained was their own fault as I'd asked them to move it to their own room some several days earlier.
Bill's been in a right state about Minister Bagnold's announcement yesterday, chalk full to the brim of questions about what it all means. Sometimes I think we'd all be a deal better off if we let the children run things. The things my boys come up with -- well, they often seem to me far wiser than the adults who run things, myself included. I'll only say I do hope you lot in the Auror office take care of yourselves. It's a hefty responsibility at the best of times, and I'd hate to think this new burden might keep you up at night. Do make sure you're eating properly, please and thank-you.
Rufus, I'll be keeping an eye on you particularly.
WARDED TO GIDEON AND FABIAN:You lot and all. Which is to say, I expect you both over here for Sunday dinner. Charlie's been especially bothering me to have you over so he can show you the headway he's made with his Christmas broomstick. To be honest, I'm afraid Arthur's going to take it on himself to teach him to fly and he's hardly any time to sleep let alone get up on a broom with one of my sons. I'd be forever grateful, really and truly.
